Hantaviruslar, Bunyaviridae ailesinin Hantavirus cinsinde yer alan, kemirici (rodent) veya b\u00f6cek\u00e7il (insektivor) kaynakl\u0131, zarfl\u0131 bir RNA virusu grubudur. Her hantavirus tipi o tipe \u00f6zg\u00fc bir kemirici t\u00fcr\u00fc taraf\u0131ndan ta\u015f\u0131n\u0131r. G\u00fcn\u00fcm\u00fcze kadar 45 civar\u0131nda hantavirus tipi saptanm\u0131\u015f ve en az 20 tanesi insanlarda infeksiyon etkeni olarak g\u00f6sterilmi\u015ftir. Hantaviruslar kemiricilerde \u00e7o\u011funlukla asemptomatik fakat kronik bir infeksiyona neden olur. Kemiriciler idrar ve d\u0131\u015fk\u0131lar\u0131yla aylarca \u00e7evreye virus sa\u00e7arlar. Amerika k\u0131tas\u0131nda bulunan hantavirus tipleri (Sin Nombre virusu, Andes virusu, Laguna Negra virusu, New York virusu vb.) hantavirus pulmoner sendromuna (HPS) neden olur ve olu\u015fan infeksiyonun fatalitesi olduk\u00e7a y\u00fcksektir (%30 civar\u0131nda). Avrupa ve Asya\u2019da bulunan hantavirus tipleri (Hantaan virusu [HTNV], Seoul virusu [SEOV], Dobrova virusu [DOBV], Puumala virusu [PUUV] vb.) ise renal sendromla seyreden kanamal\u0131 ate\u015fe (RSKA) yol a\u00e7arlar. Asya\u2019da HTNV ve SEOV, Avrupa\u2019da ise PUUV ve DOBV ba\u015fl\u0131ca RSKA etkenleridir. HTNV ve DOBV ile olu\u015fan infeksiyon daha a\u011f\u0131r seyirlidir ve fatalite h\u0131z\u0131 %5-10 aras\u0131ndad\u0131r, PUUV ile olu\u015fan infeksiyon ise daha hafif seyirlidir ve fatalite h\u0131z\u0131 %0.1 civar\u0131ndad\u0131r. Ribavirin, \u00c7in ve Kore\u2019de yap\u0131lan birka\u00e7 \u00e7al\u0131\u015fmada RSKA tedavisinde etkili bulunmu\u015ftur; ancak Amerika\u2019da HPS tedavisinde etkisiz bulunmu\u015ftur. Korunmada en etkili yol a\u015f\u0131lama olarak g\u00f6r\u00fcnmektedir ve etkin ve g\u00fcvenilir bir a\u015f\u0131 i\u00e7in \u00e7al\u0131\u015fmalar halen s\u00fcrmektedir. T\u00fcrkiye\u2019de insanlarda klinik ve serolojik olarak do\u011frulanan ilk hantavirus salg\u0131n\u0131 2009 \u015eubat'\u0131nda Zonguldak-Bart\u0131n B\u00f6lgesinde saptanm\u0131\u015ft\u0131r.
