{"id":16878,"date":"2021-01-05T01:25:39","date_gmt":"2021-01-04T22:25:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.klimikdergisi.org\/\/2021\/01\/05\/valuation-of-hbsag-anti-hbs-and-anti-hcv-positivity-and-risk-factors-among-oral-and-dental-health-workers-in-sanliurfa\/"},"modified":"2021-01-05T01:25:39","modified_gmt":"2021-01-04T22:25:39","slug":"valuation-of-hbsag-anti-hbs-and-anti-hcv-positivity-and-risk-factors-among-oral-and-dental-health-workers-in-sanliurfa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.klimikdergisi.org\/en\/2021\/01\/05\/valuation-of-hbsag-anti-hbs-and-anti-hcv-positivity-and-risk-factors-among-oral-and-dental-health-workers-in-sanliurfa\/","title":{"rendered":"valuation of HBsAg, Anti-HBs and Anti-HCV Positivity and Risk Factors Among Oral and Dental Health Workers in \u015eanl\u0131urfa"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>Abstract<\/h1>\n<p> <strong>Objective<\/strong>: The aim of this study was to determine the seroprevalence of hepatitis B and C virus infections in 113 (37.3%) dentists, 109 (36%) other dental health care workers (nurse, dental laboratory technicians), 60 (19.8%) office staff and 21 (6.9%) cleaning staff making a total of 303 participants working in Sanliurfa city during the period of March 2008-May 2008.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p> <strong>Methods<\/strong>: A face to face questionnaire was carried out and HBsAg, anti-HBs and anti-HCV markers were analyzed from blood samples using ELISA technique.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p> <strong>Results<\/strong>: The overall rate of HBsAg positivity was 3.6% (n=11), anti-HBs was 63% (n=191) and anti-HCV positivity was 0.3% (n=1). 63.4% (n=192) of the participants had been vaccinated for Hepatitis B at least once. HBsAg seropositivity was found to be higher (p&lt;0.5) in participants with a history of hepatitis and with a family history of hepatitis.<\/p>\n<p> <strong>Conclusion<\/strong>: In conclusion, dentists and other dental health care workers are not at greater risk than the normal population for hepatitis B and C.
