The Actinomyces species can cause opportunistic infections due to the disruption of the mucosal surface of the genital system although they are \u00a0normal inhabitants of this surface. Actinomycosis of the greater omentum, though rare, should be included in the differential diagnosis of an omental mass, especially in patients with fever and leukocytosis. It can \u00a0often be mistaken for a malignant tumor and presents a diagnostic dilemma.
