Microorganism causing catheter-associated urinary tract infections may arise from patients\u2019 endogenous flora (colon, vagina, meatus etc.) or from contamination by staff during instrumentation. The risk of catheter-associated urinary tract infections are affected by properties of catheters, conditions of practice, post-practice care, and experience of the practitioner.
