The relationship between Sj\u00f6gren&#39;s syndrome and hepatitis C virus infection was revealed first in 1992 by Haddad et al. Viral infections have long been seen as a potential cause and many viruses like the herpesviruses, and retroviruses have been blamed in the etiology of Sj\u00f6gren&#39;s syndrome. Experimental models in mice have also shown the direct relationship between certain viruses and Sj\u00f6gren&#39;s syndrome. Also the clinical and histological findings of primary Sj\u00f6gren&#39;s syndrome were observed in some patients with chronic hepatitis C in several studies.
